From May 10 to 15, 2026, an educational visit took place in Kalavryta, with the participation of guests from France. The visit aimed to introduce participants to the production process of authentic Greek feta PDO cheese and to highlight the unique characteristics that make it one of Greece’s most emblematic products.
During their stay, the French guests visited the feta production unit and the maintenance facilities of the Agricultural Cooperative of Kalavryta, beneficiary of the program. There, they had the opportunity to observe the different stages of milk processing, cheese production, maturation, and preservation, gaining a deeper understanding of the strict standards required for the creation of feta PDO.
The program also included visits to local farms, where participants learned more about sheep and goat breeding, grazing practices, and the role of the natural environment and regional microclimate in shaping the quality and distinctive taste of the cheese.
The visit also included gastronomic experiences at local restaurants, where the guests had the opportunity to taste authentic Greek dishes featuring feta PDO. The experience left very positive impressions and contributed to strengthening the connection between Greek producers and the French market.
